Review

A big thumbs-up to director Sujeeth for presenting Pawan Kalyan in a gangster avatar that is both stylish and massy. His look and characterization have been crafted to thrill fans, and they deliver.

Pawan Kalyan is outstanding in the action sequences. The introduction fight, interval sequence, police station episode, and key second-half action blocks are pure fan service. Each set-piece is tailored to excite his followers, and the team succeeds in delivering those moments.

Emraan Hashmi makes a stylish Telugu debut. Though his role is limited, he does a fair job. Sudhev Nair stands out in the first half, and Sriya Reddy does well with the space she is given.

The film is loaded with fan moments. The title card itself sets the tone. The action scenes, especially when Pawan wields the katana, are whistle-worthy. There are multiple Easter eggs that also spark excitement among Saaho fans.

Thaman delivers a power-packed score that elevates key sequences. Cinematographer Ravi K. Chandran deserves special credit, as the visuals are rich, vibrant, and cinematic.

While presenting Pawan Kalyan as fans desire is satisfying, the story should take precedence—and that’s where OG falters. The plot is predictable and lacks depth. A stronger, tighter execution could have compensated, but it falls short.

The second half dips in energy more than the first, with the climax being the only standout to maintain excitement. Sujeeth’s screenplay has some flair, but the weak story undercuts the overall impact.

Key characters like Prakash Raj, Sriya Reddy, Arjun Das, and Priyanka Mohan don’t get proper arcs. The emotional scenes between Pawan and Priyanka are decent but limited, which is disappointing.

The confrontations between Pawan Kalyan and Emraan Hashmi lack the intensity fans might expect. The climax works, but doesn’t feel explosive.

Technical

Sujeeth succeeds in portraying his favorite star exactly the way fans want to see him. However, a more compelling storyline would have made a big difference. The dialogues hit well during elevation scenes.

Cinematographers Ravi K. Chandran and Manoj Paramahamsa deliver stunning visuals that enhance the narrative. Thaman’s score is a major highlight and injects energy into many scenes. Editor Naveen Nooli does well in parts, but the second half could have been trimmed more. The production values are grand, with the Bombay setting recreated impressively.

Conclusion

Overall, They Call Him OG is Sujeeth’s tribute to Pawan Kalyan and his fandom. While the story is ordinary and predictable, Pawan’s swag, action, and larger-than-life screen presence keep the film afloat. The action sequences will delight his fans without a doubt.

On the flip side, the weak storyline, underdeveloped characters, and a tone that’s not entirely family-friendly hold it back. Still, OG is a feast for fans, packed with mass elevations and vintage Pawan Kalyan moments. Watch it for the high points and the man himself—you’ll be entertained.
