Review

Like in the original film, Ram Pothineni reprises his role as iSmart Shankar and turns in another outstanding performance in the follow-up. Once again, his loud demeanor and passionate delivery of language are fascinating.

Ram’s romantic interest, Kavya Thapar, joins him, and their scenes together are entertaining to watch. Although he gives an ok performance, Sanjay Dutt lends some weight to the movie as a mafia don.
The action sequences are mostly well-executed, while the remaining cast members give performances that stay inside their comfort zones.

Even though the fundamental plot makes sense and supports the decision to make a sequel, Puri Jagannadh and his colleagues didn’t appear to care that much about making the narration interesting. It is difficult to remain interested in the tale since the screenplay is so weak, especially in the second half.

There’s not enough substance for the emotional parts to really hit home. Numerous characters appear solely to occupy the screen. Jhansi might have had a stronger part, and her memory sequences may have carried greater emotional weight. It is preferable to keep Pragathi’s inflated performance to yourself.

The humor is uninteresting. Ali’s persona and his attempts at humor are less entertaining and more aggravating.

Conclusion

On the whole, Double iSmart struggles to live up to the hype of its predecessor, iSmart Shankar. Despite Ram Pothineni’s commendable efforts, his talent feels underutilised. The plot has potential, but the execution falls short, especially in the dragging second half. Kavya Thapar’s presence is minimal, and Ali’s comedy track fails to deliver laughs. Sanjay Dutt’s portrayal as the villain comes across as just another routine bad guy. If you’re in search of solid entertainment, this might not be your best pick.
