Story
The narrative takes place in the Guntur district’s Peddapalli hamlet. The ruler of Peddapalli and the eight neighboring villages is Shivayya (Ravindra Vijay). Every villager obeys Shivayya’s orders because they are afraid of him. Shivayya uses his wealth and influence to ruin the lives of country women. Shivayya’s mistress is a prostitute named Pushpa (Anjali). A new employee of Shivayya called Darshi (played by Sri Tej) develops feelings for Pushpa. After Anjali admits his love, they decide to tie the knot. However, why did Darshi marry Lakshmi (Ananya Nagalla)? Why did he end up behind bars? After being released from prison, what does he do? Review
Bahishkarana is a crime drama that revolves on the figure of Pushpa, a prostitute, and the village chief. It is set against a background of caste and religious problems that were prevalent in the villages at that time. Some episodes do a good job at handling the suspense element. The songs that highlight Pushpa’s bond with Shivayya and Darshi’s personas are striking. These three central people are at the center of a good conflict.
In her fearless depiction of a prostitute, Anjali excels once again. Her portrayal as Darshi’s boyfriend and Shivayya’s mistress is the series’ high point. Despite having little screen time, Ananya Nagalla, another female star, gives a strong performance. As Shivayya, Ravindra Vijay is playing his best part. Sri Tej, who portrayed the pivotal character of Darshi, is also remarkable. In their respective parts, the other supporting actors leave their imprint. In this gripping criminal thriller, the filmmaker does a great job handling some of the most poignant passages.
The rustic setting and the antagonism between Shivayya and Pushpa characters are well portrayed by writer-director Mahesh Prajapati, but his script falls short. In several scenes, the story seems melodramatic, despite the fact that the main characters’ emotions were well developed in the previous three episodes. Important sequences in the series lack compelling qualities.
The story would have benefitted from a much deeper conflict in the presentation, even if the central issue of strong village leaders taking advantage of women from lesser castes was established persuasively. Furthermore, a few poignant passages follow a recognizable and predictable pattern. More intrigue may have been added to the scene where Pushpa uses Lakshmi to get vengeance on Shivayya.
Technical:
With his taking, director Mahesh Prajapati makes an impression. He was unable to write a compelling script for certain important passages, however. The background music by composer Siddharth Sadasivuni enhances a few key passages, and the songs are passable. The series has excellent production qualities and cinematography.
Conclusion:
This gripping rural crime thriller gives the spectator a raw and rustic vibe while handling the suspense component very nicely in several scenes. However, the main shortcomings of Bahishkarana are the sluggish narrative in certain parts and the absence of engaging components in the script. Only a tiny portion of the audience may find the rooted characters and criminal background in this series compelling.
